TTUKa radar update

Multiple test throughout the morning and afternoon today (17 March) revealed little in the way of coherent velocity data for the TTUKa radars. As such, no coordinated scan was done today. The front last night wiped the atmosphere clean from our perspective (compared to the last couple of days). Aside from a test scans, TTUKa radar teams spent the day at Erie High School talking to a couple of classes about radar, field work, XPIA, etc.

Despite issues with generator running Ka1, yesterday (16 March) was a successful day for clear air data collection. We performed over 7 hours of of virtual tower scanning throughout the day, but time periods were intermittent due to the aforementioned generator issue. Our longest stretch was about 3 hours and 20 minutes of continuous virtual towers (offset 102 m from the supersite) that recorded the passage of the front.

We hope the atmosphere recovers enough for clear air scanning tomorrow. If so, we would really like to coordinate with other teams. Regardless conditions are favorable tomorrow, we are looking forward to what could be a significant precipitation event Wednesday night into Thursday. Forecast details are still unfolding, but this event could provide an opportunity of extended data collection.

Yesterday's large dataset brings the current scanning time to 58 hours of the available 120 hours.
