2015 03 17 1400Z Radiosonde Launch Report

Radiosonde was launched from the BAO visitor's center at 1400 UTC (0800 MDT local) on the dot. Conditions cold, cloudy, and windy. Here is the skew-T ln-p diagram:

In addition, of course, the wind speed/wind direction vs. height figure is also shown:

Remarks are as follows: Just past sunrise. Thick layer of altostratus clouds covering the sky. Cold temperatures at the surface. Strong winds at the surface with gusty conditions. Upslope wind from the E/SE as balloon quickly rising and moving toward the W/NW in surface layer. Strong inversion layers observed in lower troposphere. Wind direction variable in the boundary layer. Somewhat negative vertical wind shear magnitude in the boundary layer. Wind veering with height in most of lower troposphere. Well mixed and large relative humidity up to 680 hPa, probably above cloud tops. Radiosonde started descending before cutting off the data stream, so should be post processed to remove this.
